Recently this "entrance" figure seems to be increasing to the point where I actually consider whether or not the attraction is worth it, in 24 years visiting LoS this is a new found consideration and experience.
An additional annoyance is the expectation that I will pay the Farang rate for my Thai partner; you are right, I don't like it though I will go home at the end of my holiday while the only sniffing actually undertaken is by the Thai daughters.
The Thais have similar cause for complaint with their import tariffs which makes the majority of cars etc beyond reach, in some cases 4 times the European rate.
Mai pen rai....

When asked to pay the higher price, I would explain in Thai that I am a resident, pay taxes, have a Thai wife. Every time the attendant would allow me to pay Thai price. So it seems as though this two tier pricing is largely intended for those who are visiting, not all foreigners per se. If one is willing to become more Thai, then one is treated as such.

Personally I never visit those places, so I really do not know ... but as most of us Farang, living here (longtime or not), I hate to be ripped off and this, I make very clear to those who would try or even think to try.
Furthermore, I agree with everybody who thinks like SIBLEY on this matter. Ex-pats should be loyal to each other and not just give in to any Thai scammer (official or not) who wants to steal our money.

As a regular visitor i have no problem with the 2 price system in the following circumstances;
it is up front and honest, and it is for government funded venues like national parks.
My annoyance is with the deceitful practice of tourist venues, tour guides or hotels charging whatever they can get away with rather than an honest set price for all. As far as markets are concerned, the best price is what you are willing to pay, whoever you are or whatever country you are from.
