I don't see any reason why you need Thai passport if you were already living in US. Hey get you US passport and you can travel around the world either.

I was born in Bangkok but now live in the United States and am an american citizen. However, I am considering getting married in Cancun, Mexico and they are requiring a birth certificate. How do I obtain a copy of my birth certificate?

Thanks,

Your parents should have your birth certificate. Otherwise, you would not be able to receive US passport before travel out of Thailand. For some reason your parents do not have your birth certificate. You will have to contact US Embassy in Bangkok whether they still have your record. Why do you want to get marry certificate in Cancun, Mexico? You can have ceremony in Mexico and register your marriage back in USA at your county's courthouse.

What?! You're telling people they have to go to Thailand to get their birth certificate!? Yeah, well some people don't have thousands of dollars to hangout in Bangkok for 3+ weeks waiting for their stinking birth certificate dude! Is there like a phone number for the Thai Embassy or somethin'?

Mistakes are commonly happened on passport applications and or made by officials. It is not common. Thailand have e-government system. Now, it is easier to do business with Thai government. But the problems have to be traced at the original locations to fix the problems. Not everythings can be done on the phone. Otherwise, I would be able to transfer money from your accounts into someone elses accounts by phone. There are processes to insure the proper corrections.

For replacement of Thai birth certificate, you must contact either the office that your parents have registered your birth or go to Information Centre, Wang Chaiya, Nang-leau, Dusit, Bangkok. หน่วยบริการข้อมูล สำนักบริหารการทะเบียน วังไชยา นางเลิ้ง เขตดุสิต กทม They will make a copy of your certificate from microfilm.
