i dont not why thailand will kick now out thousands of foreigner that life and spend much money in thailand.

i be now 2 year here - all the time with a offical tourist visa and not only with the visa on arrival stamp. i spend in this 2 year about 3 million thai baht and not work any minute here - i can not work anymore. thai embassy say before this is the visa that i need - for the other one i be too young and not married with a thai woman.

if i need leave the country every 90 days for minimum of 90 days then i need to say goodbye to thailand - i not can stay 3 months in a other country and then change again and again - nobody give a house for rent for 3 months.

i dont not what can do now - i be very sad now and not can sleep and eat anymore before i know whats will happen with my life.

i understand that thailand want kick out bad peoples but please let the peoples that hold the rules and do nothing wrong life here - we support the economy too.

Bravo ! I am happy to learn that Thailand is finally going to take action and get rid of the thousands of foreigners who take advantage of our country by not paying any taxes. Also our kids will have a better future not being tought English by some "native farang" without any qulifications. If they want to stay and work here then apply for a work permit and pay taxes, simple!

marco 16th , The new rules are good for the national interest of Thailand . Each government in the world is due to take what it thinks best to its people and nation.
That step was so essential to get rid of impostor foreigners who're overstaying and doing God knows what.
Besides, if you want to live in Thailand, there are many lawful channels to get the permit. I've never seen a more flexible regulations than those in Thailand. They can deal with all the cases to the satisfaction of all types of foreign residents.

You must be someone who does not work in the tourism or commercial sector.
We can take getting ripped off occaionally etc, but ignorant thai's like you just scare off people who really love this country, and spend millions of baht that does go to your govt, wether directly (visa fees) or indirectly.

@ Somchai

Bravo ! I am happy to learn that my country Switzerland is finally going to take action and gets rid of hundred of Khon Thai that are profiting from our social wellfare and selling drugs to our children.

With our new immigration laws, Khon Thai will be barren from coming here, except those that are highly skilled and are useful for our economy. Thai prostitutes and yaba dealers abusing our generosity and hospitality will suffer deportation back to where they came from.
And for those farangs who are interested about land ownership in Thailand but cant, the good news is that Khon Thai cannot be owner of land or house in Switzerland too, even with freeholding.

John. If you are truely wanting to retire in Thailand, than you need to contact your nearest Thai Consulate or go to their websites. The new rules only applying to those who are abusing the privilege of their tourist visa. If you can show to the Thai Consulate what are your intention in Thailand and transfering certain amount of money and incoming retirement incomes, than you have a greater chance of getting residental visa. Since both of you are not over 55 or 60 y/o, you will have to prove your financial stability. Another thing, it is a good idea to contact The Thai Educational Ministry for teaching job in government school so that you would be abled to get your working permits.

somchai,
open your mind and please see what's going on in your country. Is this realy an issue for your goverment, some long stay farang tourist in Pattaya, Phuket, Samui or elsewhere?

Are Thais maybe afraid of farangs?
I dont think so at all.
I spent more then 3 Million Baht in the last 10 years as a tourist in your farang friendly country!

By the way, get back the tax money of your former PM would be a better advise.

hi Somchai
I live peacefully on my girlfriends farm in Northern Thailand and to try to help the local community i spend 4 hours per week doing voluntary teaching at the local village school as well as the police station and hospital(i am not a qualified teacher).this is a poor rice farming community who could not afford to pay a native english teacher. the result is that there are now 10 and 11 year old students who can speak better english than 15year old high school students!
so please, dont pre judge all foreigners.
kindest regards, george.
