Can somebody please explain?
Can somebody please explain?
I have lived in japan for 20 years. I have a successful business there, and work hard to keep it successful.
For the past 15 years i have spent anywhere from a few weeks to a few months in thailand - recently i have been spending atleast a few months per year as i find the tokyo summers unbearable, and the middle of winter is also too cold for me.
for 15 years i have been coming here to spend money. i play golf, i visit the islands and go diving, and i enjoy the food on offer.
Yestreday, i came to thailand for the third time this year. i stayed a month the first time and a few weeks the next. Yesterday i was told by a very rude woman at the airport who seemed to have made up her mind that she didn't like me the moment i walked up to her counter (what is wrong with these people??). She then very coldly told me that I can only staty 15 days, and cannot return for 3 months.
Now this is just insane. I work in japan, and relax in thailand - that's what i have done for almost 2 decades. My japanese wife also loves it here, and travels with me most of the time - though she rarely has time to stay as long as me - but now i have been told i am not allowed back - by a rude woman with a horrible attitude.
I. have visited cambodia, burma, and loas, and think they are nice countries, but the lack of infistucture has always put me off a little - but not now.
I have a friend will a villa on the beach in Cambodia, and will be booking my futre trips there.
If i am not good enough for you thailand, then goodbye - your new visa policies have given me as bitter tastre in my mouth that i don't think will go away soon..

I fully agree with you. There needs to be exeptions. If you have the money and have no desire to illegally work, you should be allowed to stay all year round. There needs to be a visitors visa, which is valid for 1 year. The criteria could be sufficient funds in your account and maybe even a short stint of charity work during that year, to keep your visa valid. This way you are putting into the community, not just financially. It's just a thought, but for the genuine people like yourself, your not getting a fair go.

They have decided that they no longer require us farang, to sustain their economy (they have a stock exchange now didn't you know).
and we are a smelly troublesome lot after all, coming here defiling their women and causing havoc on the roads.
So I say come here for your 3 weeks holiday, drink yourself stupid, defile as many bar-girls as you can and then key Thailands shiney new car on the way out.!

Thai airport officials are professionals and most hospitable.
Your rude words and foul language will not pardon you of abiding by the Thai law. So vulgar of you to defame an official doing her work. I'm wondering why the 20 years in Japan were futile to enhance your primitive hostile nature. If you can't adjust or adhere to Thai laws, Take your money and bye bye honey.

You seem to be very anti foreign.
According to the Thai Embassy website,
http://www.thaiembdc.org/consular/visa/visa.htm#list%20no%20visa
I quote, “Nationals of the following countries may enter Thailand without a visa in accordance with Ministry of Interior's regulation for a maximum stay of 30 days for purpose of Tourism only:-
Japan is listed as one of the countries where nationals may enter without a visa for 30 days.
However Thailand has changed the visa rules recently to prevent people from running to the border every thirty days to renew their visa. I totally agree with this policy as it appears to be an attempt to keep out those who circumvent the normal visa process.
But Mark is not one of those people. He does not live in Thailand nor does he make border runs every 30 days. A quick look at his entry exit record would have confirmed that. So his complaint is valid. He has broken no laws.
You said, “Your rude words and foul language will not pardon you of abiding by the Thai law.”
You should reread Mark’s post again. I see nothing in it that indicated he was rude and used foul language.
It is you, Chaokoh, who needs to look at yourself and ask the hard question, “Am I a good example of Thai people? Do I practice the words of the beloved //////?
