Most people here in the UK did not like Thatcher but we didn't dissolve the Tory party, we got rid of her.

Well, does Thatcher have blood related relatives in the party? Taksin does. Does Thatcher have telecom business? And the party members have other business beside being a politician. If someone in the Tory party trys to bring Thatcher back again, do you think the people will ask to dissolve the party???
Let me ask one simple questions. If Taksin is not guilty, why won't he come back and face charges? What is he waiting for?

My Answer to You: My Dear Innocent Bella,
First of all, only some Bangkokians and people form the South are supporting the protest. Therefore, please do not use "more than half the population" when it still has not reached half. Secondly, in a matured legal system, a crime is judged on the seriousness of the actions and the motive is only used as a reference in passing the sentence. Therefore, if somebody rob the bank just because he is poor, means he should get away scot-free? No. The fact is he did committed a robbery and the fact that he is poor may or may not help him get a lighter sentence. Therefore, why are the PAD getting away scot-free for smashing up Government properties and illegally taking over the Government House? Any acts of hostility towards essential Government buildings in other countries is already consider rebellion. Therefore, the treason charges should be valid, of course not to the extent of death sentence. Freedom of expression does not mean Freedom of Action.
Could some of the PAD be mixed up with some who are with Taksin? It is so easy to fake as PAD, wear yellow shirt and start throwing the bomb to mess up the group. If you see the news, the car was bomb and a girl died with a bomb under her arm. The police couldn't throw a bomb that far. And you think the PAD kill themselves??? So there must be some fake PAD, started throwing the bomb and waiting for the mess and bombed the PAD side. If you are so educated, why aren't you more observative?
My Answer to You: Do you know the real reason behind Thaksin buying the Football Club? It happens during the military government where they forcefully clamped down on the airing of any news, images etc. relating or showing of Thaksin. The Military Government then hope to use this tactic to make the people "forget" about Thaksin. Who don't try to evade tax if they can, especially for the rich and famous? It is only whether you can catch them in the act or not. Even one hollywood star was found guilty of tax evasion some time back. So don't make a big fuss about it. If it is coming out of your pocket now, you would have said differently.
If he bought the football team for fame and for thai football players to go international, why did he resell it so soon? Thai football players didn't even have a chance to touch hands with the Manchesters. Der??? Where you come from with your highly business education. Hollywood stars guilty for tax evasion? Yeah, are they PM and telling the citizens to pay tax but not doing it yourself????
I am not a PAD but I don't think Taksin did his role right? I don't think Chamlong or Apisit should be PM either. But Taksin's party is just too involve in business. Tough luck if people doesn't believe his business wealth and growth has nothing to do with politics when he got richer and richer during his term.
If you are so smart, tell me why Taksin won't come back and face his charges if he is not guilty at all? What is he waiting for????? Please, I don't want stupid answers that he is doing a PhD degree.

The two issues are SEPERATE
Most people here in the UK did not like Thatcher but we didn't dissolve the Tory party, we got rid of her.

Well he claims that the current judges and laws will not treat him fairly.
These laws were made by the very same people that staged the coup. I think the judges also were 'hired' by this junta.
I do not blame him for thinking like that, when I see the development in the country.
Anyway, what is most important, saving the country or getting revenge?

In answer to your question..yes there are a lot of MP's here in england who have family members work for them in their constituency and are on the pay roll, ir paid by the tax payer, The MP upon his/her appointment highlights the facts.
you sem t be besotted with family ties..Bella our next head of state is a family tie to the curent one ie her son...does that mean we should not have family ties in politics..family ties hould have very little to do with it, there are some good family ties, the Kennedys, Ghandis, etc and there are some terrible ones..Bush's
The PPP was a majority elected government FULL STOP..PAD go home and live with it
Thaksin....like one other blooger has pointed out if the PAD lot can get away wiht all the illegal manuverings that they are up to Thaksin will get away with it too.
BUT the PPP is still a majority voted government LIVE WITH IT

Thank you K.Rahat for starting this thread.
To Minnie: From my reading, all I can say to make you understand "Bella" more is that the problem is in the foundation of the value system going on deep down in these PAD sympathizers. It tends to make them quite ignorant and naive to more worldly issues, thoughts, beliefs etc.... and tends to make them mix things up a bit.
I do not consider myself much of a worldly person, but I know right from wrong. Yes, I must write this here in knowing that as soon as Bella sees this, she will retaliate...
Mind note: Sonthi is mad at Thaksin for personal issues.... sth about borrowing money.... So he saves his arse daily with the excuse of protesting. Anybody got the details....?? We need to spread the word!
As children, we must learn to socialize, democratically in our preschools and kindergartens. Getting in line, saying sorry, accepting the majority vote for the room monitor. But, sadly here... many people don't get in line. (Some)People rush... there are very few rules obeyed on the streets.... because they're worried about "winning". Hmm..... winning? Please, mind you, I do NOT mean everyone! There are a many decent lot of us around!!!
This whole thing isn't about the good for anything, but all about revenge and SAVING FACE! Ohhh,,,, is face important here..... oh yeah...... you can't shatter your face for ALL costs, no, no..... especially when you can earn big bucks while you're at it!
So, you see, Minnie, that all this nonsense that has been instilled from childhood has created a bunch of naive, stubborn, narrow-minded dudes. They just can't seem to comprehend some obvious things. They need to learn World History in school .... they have to participate in debates... They have to learn how to filter fact, opinion, and fiction.... I have Thai students from some of the best schools here..... they don't learn World History
Additionally, very few do their homework before believing things and opening their mouths...

we need more silent majority to do something, no need to show face or reveal your identity. we can act like cyber terrorists!!! get to the people via SMS, blogs, alternatives media to show your anger towards this never ending political stalemate.

PAD pushes a system of fewer elected members in the lower house of Parliament, prompting those like Giles Ungpakorn of Chulalongkorn University to say: "They want to bring about a Suharto-style "New Order", where only half the MPs will be elected and the Prime Minister need not be an elected MP."
>>
Does the Thai people want the way how Suharto run his government? you decide.
>>
The People's Alliance for Democracy claims that Thailand's electoral system is susceptible to vote-buying, and that the powerful rural majority is not sophisticated enough to vote responsibly. It calls for scrapping the one-person, one-vote system. Instead, the opposition party advocates that some lawmakers be chosen by professions and social groups.
>>
As a citizen of Thailand, how would you feel if you cannot vote? Is this democracy? In what capacity for PAD to judge that all rural people can't decide the votes for themselves. This is RIDICULOUS.
>>
In September, the court found Samak ineligible to be prime minister because he had violated a ban on earning extra income -- through hosting cooking shows on television.
>>
Samak has been well known for hosting cooking shows, just because of this he is ineligible to be PM??! The extra income must be a lot more than what he is earning as a PM and there is a conflict of interest too. My friends and I were laughing at Thailand court system.
