Your Local Pubs and Hangouts in Bangkok

Postby Strap on Mon Oct 06, 2008 8:00 pm

How about we get the Nightlife section off to a good start :D

What places do you like to visit ?
What places have good value for money ?
What areas do you like ?

I will start it with my own..

I enjoy going to RCA on weekends , good places to sit and relax with new friends , plenty of good music clubs.
Sunday nights are good in Thong Lo , alot of good restaurants and good value for money .
During the week Sukhumvit is my main hangout, Soi 11, Soi Nana, and Soi cowboy have plenty of early hour specials and some really good restaurants between the soi's.

Thats my start Who's next.

Cheers for now.

I like to go to a place called "Volk Bar" a lot.
It is right on BTS Ratchathewee (unfortunately DIRECTLY by the roadside, which spoils the atmosphere a little), opposite the Asia Hotel.

The food is good, mostly Thais come here...so you better bring a thai-freind, otherwise you might have difficulties to get what you want...but people are freindly the music is good...and it's easy to get there and away by BTS.

If you have a little more money to spend and you are an italian-food-fan: the BRIO'S at the Marriott Bangkok hotel, is the place to be!

Huntsman Pub  :D   :D
Great Pub, Home-style atmosphere and a superb band playing from 9pm to 1 am. This weekend they have a special event with complimentary drinks.
Really worth a try. The Happy Hour starts already from 3 to 9 pm. Food and service is great for a pub and every time I go there do I meet a couple of good mates.

I will see you there.

Try Tawandaeng German Beer house. Food, entertainment, service and beer are great (brewed on the premises) and the prices are extremely reasonable. The live band switches from Thai Pop, Thai Country to Western music every other song so to get everyone going. I'm a regular there and strongly recommend.

The original one is on Narathiwat & Rama 3 intersection... 5-10 minutes from Silom & Sathorn road. Here's there web-site

Have fun guys.

- There is a nice Jazz bar on Langsuan Rd. (behind Lumpini park) Actually, there is a strip of about 5-6 pubs/drinking places on that road but mainly playing Thai music. This Jazz bar has been around for ages and pretty popular.

- Long Table on Sukhumvit 16. It is on the 25th floor and mainly Thai Fusion food. Great view of the city but a little pricy. Same owners as Bed Supper Club.

But the place I go most is Tawandang because prices are very reasonable and the beer is good. Whenever I have guests, I bring them there and they all like it a lot.

Good luck,

Indeed, nice tips on the pubs! Good to know for when I return 8-)

I like Bai Otto in Sukhumvit (i'll update with the Soi...i think its 28 - 24  ) for great German food along with delicious draft German beer! Buffet lunch on weekends I believe.

As for young people places...I used to frequent RCA (Route 66 - has both Thai live band, and Hip-Hop discotheque rooms). Or "Nang Len" is also busy pub (in Thong Lor). For Weds. night, Coloc in Santika plaza used to be popular (This was 2007 :P).

Cheers!

I like the Witch Tavern on Thonglor (Suk. 55) around there are many nice smaller venues such as Woodstock, and many bars/clubs for Thai people same on Ekkamai (Suk 63) like Santika
I also enjoy to pick-up a beer at the Bull's Head in Suk.31/1 and Larry's pub and dive (Suk.22) and Thaitanium (Suk.22) The last one has some hostesses but also have an ice bar and a live all thai girl band which is not too bad.

The Thermae is still a great place to hang out.

Not filled with smoke as it was in the past, reasonable prices, ladies don't pester for drinks and a good selection!!
