UDD PROTESTS BEGINS

Postby SARDINES on Mon Dec 29, 2008 2:04 pm

Hi all,

I was visiting another bloggers page who visited the UDD protest site last night and came back with pictures to share. So far so good. If the UDD can continue with the peaceful style demonstrations, I think that they might be able to win over more support.

I sincerely, hope that they truly do not change tactics and start doing what the PAD did. Then it will be a true Protest, truly Democratic.

Here's the link...

An Excerpt from bangkokpost.com. Similies and red text mine

The Permanent for Defence, Gen Apichart Penkitti, said the UDD gathering in front of the parliamentary should not intensify. :D He said the protesters should actually allow the government to perform its duties for a time being first before identifying the problems and judging the government. :D The red shirt did not block or trying to prevent the MPs and Senators from performing their duties. They gathered to make their points - no dictator, want democracy back, no meddling from military, uphold justice. MPs and senators can still walk into the parliament to perform their duties. The red shirts has no intention to block them. Don't create the situation please. Camera from the red shirt are over the place too. I think the red shirt could lay red carpets for the MPs and Senators to go into the Parliament if Democrats demand it.

He said both the PAD and the UDD already announced that they will come out if :| corruption :| activities in the government are found. Corruption charges is not the priority at the moment. The protesters want democracy, not dictatorship, military meddling and justice be seen. They want power back to the PEOPLE because the process on the formation of this government is not constitutional

The First Army Region commander, Lt-Gen Kanit Sapitak, said the army is ready  to cooperate  with the police to control the UDD mass rally. The army has always say they will cooperate with the police. They failed in their duty in maintaining Law and Order and they choose to turn a blind eye on airport terrorism and illegally taking over of government house ec...

He said army chief  Anupong Paojinda  was following the situation closely and expressed his concern that the demonstration may escalate similarly to the October-7 riot. The General should be charged for dereliction of duties, insubordination, supporting insurrection activities and meddling with politic. If the Army is really belong to the \\\///// and the PEOPLE, then he should obey the order of the PEOPLE elected government. He has no respect to the \\\//// and the PEOPLE.

According to the First Army Region's plan, five army companies, each with 150 soldiers, will work in three phases and if the protest becomes critical, all forces will gather to take control of the situation immediately. The Army belongs to the \\\//// and the PEOPLE. It should support the PEOPLE in dissolving an unconstitutionally formed government.

Dear Thong, I guess that your temper is showing a bit. Look generally your comments in red including the smileys are appropriated from my humble point of view. But I think that you do not see one important difference here.

The yellow folks were not peaceful from the beginning. They were armed with all kind of “weapons” like; sharp sticks, golf clubs, baseball batons, swords, guns or home made explosive. A rather dangerous mass of crazy people under the influence of constant brain washing, lao khao and probably yaa baa. And they had the backing from far above.

The red folks have been quite peaceful so far and unarmed. All they want is, their rights as free people not to be removed. The protest for what Thailand stands for, the land of the free. But most important, they have no backing from upstairs.

So Thong, against who would you send your soldiers in? The yellow mob and risk deads on both sides or against the red peaceful demonstrators, with probably no causalities on the army side but lots of broken noses on the red side. Take your pick.

And do not forget, the yellows have well sponsored hospitals to take care of them but the reds have nobody to take care of them. Somebody in this country has forgot, what his job is. What a pity for the country. As a red I would feel left alone from the person I loved since being a kid.

Dear pachangamac042

Thanks for your comment. However, I am a little confused here. May be I was not clear enough on my Red Text. I am red all over and support what they are doing 100% I wonder why the authorities concerned are still hopeless in arresting air-port terrorists and government house invaders- just to name two of the PAD criminal activities.

I think the Red Shirt should concentrate on exposing the peoples behind the PAD criminal activities. Pressing for the dissolution of the Parliament and return the power to the people can be an avenue they can choose to achieve this. Of course the PT supported by the Red Shirt should work hard to win a convincing election and form a government without coalition.

Action should also be taken against the military Generals for dereliction of duties and meddling in politic. If the military and law enforcement agencies obeyed the order of the PEOPLE elected government together with the 'independence' of our judiciaries, we would not see the Red Shirt today.

Happy New Year. I will return to ChiangMai tomorrow for 6 days. Hope our new FM will not organise another airport take over party. BTW my wife suggested that we should not import bulls from Spain since we are wearing Red.

Dear Thong, first of all, have a good trip together with your wife to Chiang Mai. But do you really have to wear red colors? The pilot may refuse to take you on his plane!!! You forgot about the PPP folks who were refused to go on a Thai Airways flight? But maybe you fly with a less political airline!

And anyways my friend, what could you have about a nice airport party with water, food and music, that is really fun mate. And jumping over barb wire fences to get to the airport is good for your fitness on top of it. Why do you have to be so negative. You got to see the funny side of live, same as your new FM does.

To your post, well Thong, I am sure that you know exactly what is going on here, don’t you? Just watch your PM, FM and other M’s. This is called circus or showtime!!! Got it! And all in the name of real democracy!!!!!

Dear pachangamac042

Just a quick post before my family goes to airport.

I will take the advice of stilljustbrowsing to wear shirt with red and yellow. Look like it is going to be a colourful year.

We decided to overnight at Bangkok tonight before cousin from Chaingmai takes us tomorrow. Before that I will brave myself to the Parliament. May be I should bring along a yellow shirt with me - just in case.

I am bringing my golf sticks, just in case party at airport. My son will take along his mobile karaoke set if he can get that through the airport. My wife will bring her jogging suit to join other joggers in the beautiful airport environment.

Have a fruitful year everyone I met here.

I love Issan people, love their food, their music, their parties. But....has anyone ever driven behind Issan drivers? Needless to say.....
Well, they politic about as good. They haven't learned to drive and they can't run a gov't unless you like 3-5 people to screw in a light bulb style gov't. When I see good governance AND good driving...I'll become a believer.
Until then, show me a tyrannical regime AND I'll be the first to lead a charge to defeat them. Right now one does not exist. AND no one wants more Thaksin/PAD to come back. New regime wants to pamper Issan and opened to talks but spokes persons said no open to talks. SO...we'll see.
