The Civil Aviation Training Center, Thailand (CATC) was established on 4 June 1961 as a cooperative project between the United Nations Special Fund (UNSF), the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and the Royal Thai Government under the name of the Civil Aviation Training Center in Thailand. The objective of this project, which operated from 1961-1965, was to develop and upgrade civil aviation in the Southeast Asia region, bringing it up to the standards as stipulated by ICAO in accordance with the ICAO Annexes to the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
The centre provides aviation training for interested members of the public as well as government organizations.
