Mother, daughter die in each other's arms
SARABURI : A mother and her daughter have been found dead in each other's arms under the rubble of a collapsed building in Muang district. They were among four people killed in the collapse.
Rarin Luanraenu, 28, mother of four-year-old Rawinnipa, were thought to have been asleep together when their three-storey apartment building, located behind Kasemrad Hospital's Saraburi branch, collapsed at 6.30am yesterday.
Rarin's husband and the girl's father, Sakchai Thoopkrataithong, 28, was also in the room. He suffered serious injuries and is being treated at Saraburi Hospital's intensive care unit.
Search and rescue workers used heavy equipment to cut through or remove rubble and debris to reach the victims.
Police said two other women living in separate rooms were also killed.
Saraburi Governor Thaworn Prommeechai said the collapse may have been due to heavy and incessant rain from Saturday night until yesterday morning causing the soil beneath the building's foundations to subside.

Meanwhile, The Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Department has warned local residents in river basins in 35 provinces to beware of flash floods, landslides and mountain run-off due to heavy rains in the next few days.
As flooding continues in 16 provinces, the death toll from this year's inundation has risen to 82 and more than 570,000 have been affected, said Srisombat Pornprasit, the department deputy chief.
