Chuan's son to wed

Surabot Leekpai, the only son of former prime minister Chuan Leekpai, didn't have far to look for the woman of his dreams.

She was right next to him, working as his co-host on the VRZO television programme for teens on a TrueVision channel.

Yesterday, he announced that he would marry co-host Mallika Jongwattana, or Nong Taptim and, according to a Daily News online report, the engagement will be on October 26.

The day will be a special one as he and his bride-to-be have been granted an audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to receive from her consecrated water.

The engagement will be a short one with the wedding party to be held less than a month later on November 24 at the Centara Grand Hotel.

Mr Surabot said Mr Chuan was very pleased and had volunteered to design the invitation card himself and prepare a souvenir, which will be a collection of his line drawings.

He said that he, at the age of 25, and Ms Mallika, who is 24, may be seen as too young to get married, but they were determined to begin their life together.
