What was he shooting?
Photos by Bangkok Post photographer Kosol Nakachol

What was happening here? Was the man shooting at a criminal or an enemy soldier?

No, he was shooting at a macaque, a large six-year old male monkey. The monkey was a stray. It ran away from its home and it started running around Bangkok. People first saw it on Suk Sawat Soi 8 last Monday and yesterday, people saw it again about 5 kilometres away.
Was the man trying to kill the macaque? No, he was shooting a dart into the big monkey. The dart had a drug in it, a tranquilizer, to make the monkey feel sleepy. That made it easy to catch the macaque.
