Let's get married.
Yesterday was December 12, 2012, or 12-12-12.
For many people, that seemed like a very lucky day. It was a good day, they thought, to do something very special.
For about 100 young couples, something special meant registering their marriage at Bangkok's famous "love" district, Bang Rak.
Yesterday, Nanthikorn Supakritpakorn, from Chiang Mai province, and her husband-to-be Eugene Person arrived at Bang Rak at 6am. They were the first in line.
There was a problem, however. The computers at the district office weren't working properly. Several other districts around the country had the same problem.
So Nanthikorn and Eugene had to wait. Many more couples arrived. They had to wait too.
Finally, district officials decided there were too many people at the district office. They put up a sign telling newcomers to go somewhere nearby to register their marriage.
This made some people very unhappy. Some even cried a little.
For those who came early, however, the story had a happy ending. Nanthikorn and Eugene received their marriage certificate just before noon. It said 12-12-12, a very easy date to remember. Congratulations.
