The air force is launching a probe after a private complained he had been made to work cleaning birdcages at his superior's home, according to air force spokesman Pongsak Semachai.

It comes after a video clip shared on social media of the private bemoaning his cleaning work. The unidentified private said he had been drafted to serve the country but was instead assigned to this demeaning job.

AM Pongsak said a probe will be conducted by the Royal Thai Air Force Security Force Regiment. The private has now been relieved from his work at the superior's house.

In the clip posted on Facebook, the private said his transfer to work at the home of a senior air force officer may have been unauthorised. If any bird died on his watch, he added, he would have to fork out his own money to buy a replacement.

The private said his superiors discriminated against him on the basis of his religion and said he was threatened with confinement if he did not do his job right.

He also accused his superior of keeping part of his allowance, and bullying: "What I have gone through is simply unbearable," he said, while scrubbing and hosing down the floor of the birds' cage.
