Speed boats gutted by fire at Phuket pier

PHUKET: Two speed boats were heavily damaged when one of them caught fire while moored at a pier in Thalang district on Tuesday.

Police said the Lee Loo 2 caught fire about 4.30pm at the Yamu boat pier in tambon Pak Khlok. 

The owner said he brought his boat to the pier after dropping some tourists ashore  The fire started while the twin-engine boat was being refuelled.

The flames from Lee Loo 2 spread to the Phrae Ploy 3, which was moored next to it.

The damage to the two fibreglass boats, which were not insured, was estimated at 1 million baht.
