“Film” makes a tearful apology

Superstar actor and singer Rattapoom ‘‘Film’’ Tokongsub weeps as he apologises to actress Rungnapa ‘‘Annie’’ Brook for the paternity wrangle over a baby boy born out of wedlock.

Actor and singer Rattapoom ‘‘Film’’ Tokongsub yesterday held his second press conference on his paternity wrangle with actress Rungnapa ‘‘Annie’’ Brook.

This time he looked far less confident than he had the week before. In fact, he looked like a broken man.

Much has happened in a week. First Rungnapa appeared in a tearful television interview holding the baby she says was fathered by Rattapoom, creating much public sympathy.

Then RS Promotion chief executive Surachai Chetchotisak went before the media to announce that he had halted all the superstar’s projects until he ‘‘takes responsibility’’.

Yesterday, a humbled Rattapoom apologised for his actions.

‘‘I could not stand the pressure and have to speak out,’’ he told a news conference at music giant RS Promotion in Bangkok’s Lat Phrao district.

‘‘I would like to say sorry to everyone, particularly to Annie.

‘‘I am ready to accept all the mistakes I’ve made. I am willing to undergo a DNA test or anything [Annie] wants me to do. I am asking for a chance from the media, my fan club and everyone.’’

Rattapoom said he would ask Mr  Surachai to allow him to return to work so he could take care of his family.

‘‘I promise that I won’t disappoint anyone again. This will be the last mistake and I want it to end well,’’ Rattapoom said in tears.

‘‘I will do my best as the child knows nothing. The problem started because of the mistakes of two people. I will do my best to settle the problem,’’ he said.

‘‘When I see the child, I love him so much. I will give my assistance to him forever.

‘‘If a DNA test is the best way out, I am willing to do it. If the results of the test confirm the child is mine, I will be happy and will be a good father. I have no malice against anyone. I have only true sincerity.’
