Last years’ floods caused many businesses to make adjustments, but moving from printing receipts and stickers to counterfeit money seems a bit extreme.
It is also illegal. On Wednesday Crime Suppression Division (CSD) police arrested Sathien Saisil, 50, at a shop on Vacharapol Road in the Tha Raeng area of Bang Khen.
He was caught red-handed with fake banknotes and lottery tickets. The officers also seized three printing presses, one paper-cutting machine, 100 banknote plates, 75 lottery ticket plates, 12 fake 1,000-baht banknotes and 114 fake 100-yuan Chinese banknotes.

They also found 530 fake lottery tickets, 301 fake car tax stickers and a forged Israeli passport.
This is not the first time Mr Satien has been arrested for counterfeiting.
The CSD said its officers and the US Secret Service earlier arrested Sathien for making counterfeit US banknotes, on June 3, 2004. He served three years in jail for the crime.
Police said Sathien yesterday confessed to running the counterfeit operation.
He told police his factory initially printed receipts and stickers, but the effects of last year’s floods on his business forced him to resort to forgery.
