Democrat MP from Surat Thai and the most visible leader at the party's protest site at the Samsen railway station says that if the crowds at today's rally to oppose the blanket amnesty law are large enough, the protest may be "ramped up". He did not say exactly what that might mean.

There was plenty of activity yesterday at the site and here are some photos taken by our photographers.

oppose: to disagree with or not approve of a plan or policy - คัดค้าน

protest: a meeting or rally, sometimes forceful or violent, of people who strongly disagree with something - ชุมนุมประท้วง

rally: a public meeting that a lot of people go to in order to support someone or protest against someone or something - การชุมนุมประท้วง

ramp up: to make something increase in amount or strength; to make larger; to scale up; to escalate - ยกระดับ; เสริม

senior citizen: someone who is more than 60 years old - ผู้สูงอายุ, ผู้อาวุโส

site: a place where something is located - สถานที่

stage: a raised area, usually in a theatre, etc. where actors, dancers, speakers etc. perform - เวที

visible: able to be seen - ที่มองเห็นได้

volunteer: someone who is not paid for the work that they do - อาสาสมัคร

whistle: a small metal or plastic tube that you blow to make a loud high sound, used to attract attention or as a signal - นกหวีด
