Toy and Pangpond have a secret affair

Coming out as gay is not easy. This is especially true when you have demanding parents. This is the subject of TV drama Rup Thong (Picture Perfect). The show tells the story of a single mom who expects her favourite son Suea to get married and have a family. But Suea is secretly in a romantic relationship with his male friend, Larp.

Suea, played by Pathompong Reonchaidee (Toy), and Larp, played by Akalavut Mankalasut (Pangpond), are convincing on-screen lovers. This is because Toy and Pangpond are best friends in real life. The 23-year-old actors met for the first time on the 2014 reality show Grean Possible. Female viewers particularly enjoyed the closeness of their relationship and are delighted to see them getting intimate once again.

Ahead of Picture Perfect‘s June 26 finale, S Weekly met up with the two leading men at GMM 25 to talk about the show and their relationship.

What was your first impression of each other?

Pangpond: We’re similar to one another. We don’t talk much when we’re around people we don’t know. Toy was the first person I talked to on Grean Possible and we just clicked.

Toy: I like to observe other people before getting to know them. Pangpond and I have similar personalities, so I opened up to him.

What do you like best about each other?

Toy: Pangpond is sincere.

Pangpond: Toy is sincere too. We get along well and never get mad at each other.

Does he have any flaws?

Toy: There’s not enough time to list all his flaws. [Laughs.] I’m kidding. He often thinks too much.

Pangpond: Toy doesn’t have many flaws. I like him just the way he is. If he does anything I don’t like, I’ll tell him directly.

What was it like to play lovers?

Toy: We’re comfortable working together. If I had to play the lover of another actor, it would be a lot more stressful. Pangpond helped me to get through the tough dramatic scenes.

Did you enjoy working alongside Punpun Sutatta?

Pangpond: Yes. She’s different from what I expected. I thought she’d be distant and self-important. In fact, she’s frank and likes to speak her mind.

How did you get into the character?

Toy: It was tough because at first I didn’t understand Suea. I’m close to my mom like he is, but I’m straight. Eventually, I figured out that Suea felt tired that his mom always depended on him and put pressure on him. He wanted somebody he could lean on.

Pangpond: Larp is madly in love with Suea. I had to imagine that Suea was the person I loved most in the world. It was difficult. I did a lot of acting workshops and had several discussions with the director.

Do you ever feel stressed after filming a dramatic scene?

Pangpond: Yes. If I’ve spent the day doing dramatic scenes, I often find it difficult to sleep. When I get home, I want to rest, but my mind won’t relax.

What do you like about acting?

Pangpond: The job allows us to become different people and do different jobs. I enjoy trying something new.

Toy: I feel the same. Through our characters, we get to face unusual situations that we’d never encounter in real life.

Pangpond, what was it like to be a guest on the travel show Tor Laew [Grown Up], which Toy hosted?

Pangpond: It was like shooting Grean Possible again, but not in the studio. We went travelling in the countryside and hung out together. It was fun.
