NCT 127 meet their Thai fans

K-pop groups from music label SM Entertainment always win over Thai fans, from TVXQ, Super Junior and Girls' Generation to Red Velvet. NCT is the latest boy band which is on a mission to capture Thai fans’ hearts. The members aren’t just pretty faces as they’ve survived tough training that turns aspiring singers into professional performers.

A sub-unit of the group, NCT 127, has toured their Neo City show in South Korea, Japan, US and Canada. The guys even appeared on several American TV talk shows including Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and The Late Late Show with James Corden to promote their latest single “We Are Superhuman.” Before the guys head to Europe in late June, they will have three shows in Thailand from June 21 to 23 at ThunderDome.

On June 19, nine members of NCT 127 — Taeil, 25, Johnny, 24, Taeyong, 23, Doyoung,23, Yuta,23, Jaehyun, 22, Jungwoo, 21, Mark,19 and Haechan, 19 — packed parts of CentralWorld with their fan club NCTzen for a press conference and autograph signing. When the singers appeared on stage, the screaming from the fans was so loud it was hard to catch what the guys said.

The interview was quite short, but Thai NCTzen were delighted to see their favorite singers, especially when Mark and Taeyong performed a part of “We Are Superhuman”. Then, the members spoke some Thai phrases to the fans.  The good-looking Jaehyun received wild screams when he asked whether the fans miss him. After the interview, the guys met up with 100 lucky fans onstage. The fans had the opportunity to chat with each member while they signed their autographs.

Here are some highlights of the interview.

How do you feel about returning to Thailand?

Doyoung: We haven’t been in Thailand for a long time. We miss Thailand a lot and feel really good to be here.

Were you happy that the concert tickets sold out very fast?

Jaehyun: We’ve been happy since we knew that we will perform in Thailand. When we heard about the tickets the feedback was fantastic, we felt great. We’ve worked hard for the shows.

Is there any performance that fans shouldn’t miss?

Taeyong: There will be many performances that you’ve never seen before.

What was it like to tour nine cities in the US and two cities in Canada?

Jaehyun: We were pleased to visit many places. This world tour experience made us grow.

Johnny: We were in Chicago which is my hometown. It was memorable, but other cities also welcomed us warmly.

You appeared in several TV shows in US. How do you feel about promoting K-pop to the world?

Mark: At first, it was like a dream. I felt honoured to be on those famous shows. It’s our dream to go global. Please give us support and we will work hard.

The EP We Are Superhuman reached No.1 on local charts and the iTunes music charts in 25 countries. Can you say something about the success?

Johnny: Thanks to our fans. It isn't possible without all of you. We’re grateful to all NCTzen.
