Got7 guy knows your past

Imagine that whenever you touch someone, you can see what happened in their past. In the Korean TV drama He Is Psychometric, a high school student Lee Ahn has this ability. Lee Ahn (played by Got7’s Park Jin-young) knows an investigator at the Special Investigation Unit. To make his ability useful, he helps the investigator to solve crimes. Due to its interesting story and famous star, the drama has got attention from viewers around the world.

In Got7, the 24-year-old Jin-young was recognised for his great singing and dancing. He became an actor in 2016 in the TV drama Legend of the Blue Sea. He won over the viewers with his charismatic personality and terrific acting. Jin-young returned to work with his group until this year, when he landed the leading role in He Is Psychometric

Since the show became popular with viewers, Jin-young kicked off his first solo fan meeting — He is Psychometric Drama Fan Meeting in Bangkok with Park Jin-young (Got7) — on July 21. At Union Mall Department Store, his fan club iGOT7 went wild when Jin-young appeared and sang Getsunova’s “Klai Khae Nai Khue Klai (How Far Is Near?).” The MC of the event, Boe Thanakorn, was fantastic. He made the often quiet Jin-young relax.

In the interview, the actor told his fans how he worked on the drama. Then, lucky fans were invited onstage to show their acting abilities. The winner got to take two photos with him. His last performance was to sing “The Day,” a song from his duo project with Got7’s JB. Before leaving, Jin-young thanked the fans. He said he didn’t expect to have a solo fan meeting as an actor this soon, but because of great support from the fans, this fan meeting could happen. He said the fans encouraged him to continue working and improving as an actor.

Below are some questions from the interview at the event.

How do you feel about playing Lee Ahn?

This is the first TV drama in which I’m a protagonist. When I worked on the drama, I also felt worried about touching people in my real life.

What did you do during breaks on set?

My script was long and there was a lot of dialogue, so I had to concentrate on the script during the breaks. My memory isn’t good, so I had to reread the script often.

What did you do after arriving in Bangkok?

At the airport, I met a lot of fans who welcomed me. Then, I went to the hotel and dyed my hair.

How is this solo fan meeting so far?

This must be the quietest fan meeting I’ve ever had because the fan meeting with members was so noisy. We didn’t have even one second of silence

Did any Got7 members help you to rehearse the drama?

Yugyeom, but honestly, he didn’t help much because he pretended to be a female character and used a high voice.

Did having dancing skills help you in action scenes?

Yes. Action scenes require physical strength. I’ve danced before, so I know how to move. I’m a very good dancer [laughs].

In the drama, your character is adorable and gentle.  Are you like that with the members of the group?

Absolutely not. I’m not gentle with the guys. When I’m with them, I’m cold.

Did you have a secret to make a crying scene believable?

I don’t have any secret. I remembered the crying scene was filmed during freezing days. In the script, I didn’t need to cry, but while working on the scene, my eyes filled with tears.

Are you good at reading people’s minds?

I think I am. Whenever I notice that a member in Got7 is sulking, I’ll try to make him feel better.

If you had ability of psychometry, would you like to know the past of other people?

I will try to avoid knowing it. The past doesn’t matter to me. Present and future are more important. It doesn’t matter if the fans used to like other groups. Now, they love me. I feel honoured

What does drama mean to you?

This drama is like my teacher. It let me realise what flaws I have in term of acting skills. It has guided me which direction I should go and showed me which skills I should improve.
