"Alleged" is of course the word one must use when one is not sure of the facts.
Alas, so often, perhaps most of the time, we are not sure of the facts...and perhaps never will be.
How many of those who set off bombs and shot grenades from grenade launchers for months on end before the state of emergency was imposed in Bangkok have actually been brought to justice?
Most "alleged" facts never get proven true or false for a very good reason.
Any witness coming forward will likely be shot dead and forfeit his life, a very good reason for pretending one knows nothing and not testifying.
Today's article is about a politician who was "allegedly" a criminal.
Not only was he a criminal suspect, he was also "allegedly" a gunman who murdered a journalist.
Although this victim was also "allegedly" connected to the Pheua Thai Party in Surin, no political party is immune from this sort of thing.
Only a couple of months ago there was a murder "allegedly" connected to the family of a member of the current cabinet that sits firmly on the other side of the political fence from Pheua Thai (Read article).
What follows is an extract from a larger article about the murder. Read the full article here.

The photo on right is of a (not so) alleged gunman in a reenactment of the murder of a police officer (Police reenactment of crimes before a court has found the accused guilty is a controversial practice).

Politician shot dead at restaurant VICTIM CLOSE TO BY-ELECTION CANDIDATE
A politician with alleged links to a candidate in next weekend's by-elections has been shot dead.
Kop Chaiwiboon, 56, was shot three times at Isan Photchana restaurant in Ban Dan village in Surin's Kap Choeng district yesterday.
Police said Kop, a former member of Ban Dan tambon administrative council, was a suspect in a number of criminal cases, ranging from arms and drug trafficking to a security case.
He was also a suspected gunman in the murder of a newspaper reporter in Surin.
Kop was alleged to have close connections with Puea Thai Party candidate Panida Tantirattananont, who is running for the MP seat in the Dec 12 by-election for Surin Constituency 3.
Police say they have yet to establish a motive.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) has dispatched special staff to prevent fraud in the Dec 12 by-elections in five constituencies around the country.
Election Commissioner Somchai Juengprasert, who is in charge of investigations and rulings on fraud, said he had ordered provincial election commissions in the provinces where by-elections are taking place to set up teams to prevent poll fraud....
