CHUMPHON - An elderly boiled beans vendor who was left baffled after a warrant for her arrest was mailed to her two weeks ago insists the document is invalid, reports said on Monday.

According to the warrant, Preeda Charoensuk is a managing director of a company who is wanted for not submitting a financial report to the Commerce Ministry's Department of Business Development when it was due.

It stated that the woman must turn herself in to the Economic Crime Division's office in Bangkok by May 24 and pay a fine of around 50,000 baht or the police will apprehend her according to the law.

The arrest warrant, dated May 14, 2013, was signed by Pol Capt Suebsakul Sumaworathamkul, a police investigator.

Ms Preeda, 58, whose arm is disabled, lives with her relatives in Langsuan district of Chumporn Province, reports said.

She said she was shocked when she received the warrant because she sells boiled beans for a living with earnings of around 200 baht a day and never went to Bangkok. She had never given her identification card to anyone.

The police needed to correct the situation and make amends for their mistake, she said.
