Three on the streets

What draws tourists to Thailand and what do they think about it when they get here? Mats Johannesen put that question to several people on the street, the last in our “Thailand through Norwegian eyes” series.

Three on the streets

Story by Mats  Johannesen

We talked to some people we met on the streets of Bangkok and this is what they had to say.

Shahin and Nick Lessard from Sweden and Canada

Shahin is here for a backpacking adventure and Nick had taken a much needed vacation. Before coming to Bangkok, Shahin had been to Japan and Cambodia, but had heard that Thai people, especially here in Bangkok were good English speakers and had much to offer. Nick had heard the same. Both agreed, during the little time they have been in the city, the people have been very friendly and helpful and the city is an amazing city.

Sandra, Mathieo and Juliette from France

We are here for a holiday for two weeks and we start here in Bangkok before we go to Chiang Mai. The experience so far has been very good and very different from what we are used to. We have travelled all over the world, but never experienced anything like the Thai people. They are just fantastic, especially with the kids. They are close and take care of the children in a way we've never experienced before!

Silke and Chris from Germany

Bangkok is our first destination of our trip. We have had just one night here in Bangkok till now, living up to the song, "one night in Bangkok"! So far it has been good, the behavior of the people, very good weather and the feeling of the city: It is very chaotic and very much alive. Thai people, as we mentioned before, are nice and they are trying to help in every way they can. Germans should learn one or two things from Thai people!
