The Music Scholars Concert, which takes place at Shrews-bury International School (SHB) on Sept 8, showcases the talents of the students chosen for scholarships. Yae Ram Park, aka "Candy", from South Korea and a former student at SHB, will make a guest appearance at the concert, which is being hosted in association with the Korean Embassy. Candy was a music scholar at SHB before she moved to Paris to continue her studies at the Conservatoire.

Mr Jonathan Ling, director of Music at SHB, says: "The Music Scholars Concert is a celebration of the breadth and depth of talent of our students. As she is a former music scholar herself, we are delighted that Candy can be a part of this hugely enjoyable event."

Candy, who has won a number of music competitions and has played at concerts around the world, is only 14. Her concert credits include performing at a special International Human Rights Day event at the United Nations in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

In 2007, she was commended by internationally renowned flautist Sir James Galway during a masterclass held at SHB. Additionally, she has been applauded by Symphony magazine as a musical "genius".

Following Candy's departure for Paris in 2008, three more Shrewsbury musicians have gone on to win coveted places at leading music colleges around the world: pianist Channarong Jantararat, aka "Jumbo", to the Royal College of Music in London; soprano Hyea Min Suh, aka "Sue", to the Royal Academy of Music in London; and violinist Hee Won Woo, who will begin her studies at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music in the US state of Ohio later this year.

The Music Scholars Concert, with a special guest appearance by Yae Ram Park, will be held at the Khunying Sumanee Memorial Hall, Shrewsbury International School, on Sept 8, starting at 7pm.
