Toy festival

You all know about festivals like Songkran and Loy Krathong, but there is a different kind of festival taking place at Siam Center until Sunday. It is a toy festival.

These are not ordinary toys. They are toys designed by Thai and international artists. The photos on this page show some examples.

You can probably think of your own design for toys. Look carefully at the colourful designs on the dolls above.

Now think of your own design. You might use your favourite comic character, your favourite animal or a colourful pattern you have seen. It's up to you.

Something a little difficult.

Below is an example of how you can talk about something that is not real, but something that you can easily imagine. Try to understand the question and then answer it. I have given you an example.

If you were making a plastic doll, what design would you choose?

(My answer: If I were making a plastic doll, I would choose a Superman design.)

festival – an event that is held to celebrate a particular thing or activity เทศกาล
take place – to happen เกิดขึ้น
ordinary – not unusual or different in any way ธรรมดา, ปกติ
international – connected with or involving two or more countries นานาชาติ, สากล, ระหว่างประเทศ
favourite – something you like the best of all similar things ที่ชอบมาก,ที่โปรดปราน
imagine – to form a picture of something or someone in your mind นึกคิด, จินตนาการ, นึกฝัน
