Monkey talk

Hi. We are monkeys – very special monkeys. We are golden snub-nose monkeys and we live in Hubei province in China.

We live in a big forest high in a national park where it is cold for much of the year. In fact, snow is on the ground for almost half the year.

There aren't many of us left here, but things are getting better because the park rangers take good care of us. There used to be only about 300 of us here, but now there are more than 1000.

We like to eat seeds, fruit, especially apples, tree bark, insects and small animals. If you come to visit, buy some peanuts from park workers. We like peanuts.

Just put a peanut in your hand and make a fist – close your fingers around it. We will open your fingers one by one and take the peanut, break open its shell and eat it. But please don't do that with an empty hand. That's not funny.
