One of the biggest weddings of the year took place recently when The Landmark Bangkok's owner Jatuporn Sihanatkathakul's youngest son Tosaporn Sihanatkathakul married his long-time sweetheart Tiporn Promphan, the daughter of Niphon Promphan, the prime minister's former secretary-general.

This political link ensured that guests at the reception rubbed shoulders with high-profile personalities in the political and business scene.
As a royal-sponsored wedding, HRH Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn had assigned his Royal Consort, HRH Princess Srirasm, to attend the reception, accompanied by HRH Prince Dhipankara Rasmijoti.

White and green was the colour theme of the floral decoration designed by Sakul Intakul, which dominated every corner of the 7th floor foyer, break-out rooms, as well as the main ballroom.
The princess made a show-stopping entrance in an elegant grey silk gown, welcomed by the bride - in an elegant Vera Wang gown - and groom and their respective parents.
Upon arrival in the ballroom, the princess signed the guest book, then posed for a photo with the families of the bride and groom, before chatting cordially with them. She also presented them with two special edition gold Dhipankara Rasmijoti Buddha images serial numbers 0049 and 0050, in a special presentation case with the Crown Prince's cipher.
Presiding over the formalities was former prime minister and Privy Councillor Gen Surayud Chulanont, who proposed a toast to HM the King.
The hosts welcome Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban, fourth right, Srisakul Promphan, third right, and Defence Minister Gen Pravit Wongsuwan, right.
Guests couldn't help thinking what a beautiful pair the couple made. Their relationship was almost destined: They first met on a Thai Airways flight on their way to Britain 11 years ago where they were both attending school - he at Tonbridge School and she at the sister Benenden School. The flight happened to be quite full, and she ended up sitting next to him. What struck him was how she managed to eat so much during the whole flight, and how bubbly she was!
As fate would have it, they both went on to attend the London School of Economics, remaining nothing more than friends at that time.
It wasn't until Tosaporn did an internship at Deloitte in Britain and Tiporn returned home that they realised how much they missed each other. That was two years ago, and they've been inseparable since.
The couple will be spending a 10-day honeymoon in France and Italy, countries that both find very romantic but have never had the chance to really get to know.
To mark their first meeting, the couple gave each guest a custom-made luggage tag as a memento of the wedding.
