Information

The National Gallery was constructed in the reign of King Rama V to serve as the Royal Mint building. It was later presented to the Fine Arts Department by the Treasury Department, Ministry of Finance, for use as a National Gallery on April 19, 1974. The National Gallery collects, preserves, and exhibits traditional and contemporary art, including paintings, sculptures and prints. It also displays works of art by the present King and former monarchs.
