Pirre -Auguste Renoir (1841-1919), one of the great Impressionist painters, is famous for his rosy, golden nudes (The Bathers 1876) and his studies of Parisians enjoying a day or a night out (The Lunch by the Riverside, 1880 and Dancing at Bougival, 1882), two of the most popular pictures ever with their handsome bearded men and spirited ladies, still selling millions of copies and prints every year. All of the above makes Renoir a very good name for a club with a large number of hostesses (fully-clothed and nicely dressed, one should add), dedicated to people enjoying themselves. Renoir in Sukhumvit Soi 33 was opened almost exactly 15 years ago by Alex Kietisak, and whether he knew it or not at the time, he was about to start the trend which transformed this insignificant soi into a flourishing street packed with clubs and bars unique in their kind in Bangkok and all adhering to the values laid down by Renoir.
