The Silpakorn Summer Music School (SSMS) presents a week of several concerts, seminars and workshops by a distinguished group of six performers, Le Concert de Montreal from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Scheduled for May 14 to 18 at Siam Society, the five-day event is a rare opportunity for people in Thailand by an ensemble that is dedicated to research and education of historical performances on period instruments.
Comprising Sallynee Amawat, Emilie Brule, Marjolaine Lambert, Bennett Mahler, Rona Nadler and Camille Paquette-Roy, the sextet will give a talk on "Early Music in the 18th Century" on May 14 at 6pm, followed by a concert at 7pm.
They will then conduct seminars and workshops for young Thai students between May 15 and 17 daily from 10am-4:30pm. Interested persons are invited to sit in on the sessions with no admission fee.
The ensemble will give a second performance on May 18 at 7pm. This time, however, they will be joined by the SSMS Baroque Orchestra along with selected Thai students from various universities and feature Lertkiat Chongjirajitra on solo trumpet.
The programme will feature works by Baroque composers, including Handel, Purcell, Von Biber, Telemann, Corelli, Albinoni, and Lully.
