Fitness freaks to descend on Pattaya

Thailand is on its marks and set to host the fourth Asia Fitness Convention (AFC 2012) from Oct 19 to 21 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Pattaya, a popular seaside resort in Chon Buri province.
Regarded as Asia's premier event for the health and fitness industry, the theme this year is "Inspiration + Passion = Transformation", and the event is expected to draw a big field boasting of experts from all corners of the globe.
They include Peter Twist, a successful trainer and performance coach who has overcome cancer; Steve Cotter, a martial artist and strength and conditioning specialist; and Dr Emily Splichal, a human movement specialist, lecturer and TV personality who has appeared several times on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
More than 40 leading names are expected at the convention.
Session streams include equipment trends, program design, training for fitness, training for performance, training post-rehabilitation, mindful movement, nutrition and weight management, business and self-management.
Highlights include the Asian debut of Parkour (or free running), a training method for the body and mind which focuses on rational movement in both the natural and urban environments by moving around obstacles with speed and efficiency; Physique 57, an innovative workout programme that combines isometric exercises and orthopaedic stretches to systematically lengthen and sculpt muscles in order to create a beautiful, lean body; and a first Fitness Idol Contest for attending delegates whose purpose is to select a presenter for AFC 2013.
Registration fee before Sept 30 is 12,990 for the entire three-day event (11,190 baht for two days, and 8,290 baht for one day).
