To mark Khabmongkol Day, Khabmongkol Dance School on Phahon Yothin Road is organising a Thai classical dance show at Bangkok's National Theatre on this Saturday 27th at 3 pm. This annual event is held to commemorate ML Khab Kunchorn, the scion of an aristocratic family who appreciated the value of Thai classical dance and music and made great efforts to ensure its preservation. This year's show, scheduled for Oct 27, will feature rarely seen and exquisite dances performed by Dr Supachai Chansuwan, a national artist; Ajarn Prakorn Pornpisut, director of the Music Office at the Ministry of Culture; Ajarn Patchara Kunchorn Na Ayudhya; and Thai classical dance expert Ajarn Wantani Muangboon. They will be joined by alumni and students from Khabmongkol Dance School. Tickets cost 300, 500 and 1,000 baht and can be purchased from the school (call 02-939-2417 or 081-933-9216) or the National Theatre (call 02-224-2342). For more information, contact the Thai Red Cross Society on 02-256-4440 or 02-251-1218 ext 124 or visit www.redcrossfundraising.org.
