The Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit presents two musicals, Simply Barbra and Simply Frank, that replicate the timeless voices and songs of former greats Barbra Streisand and Frank Sinatra over 12 shows next month at the Living Room of the hotel.
In a sparkling celebration of two of the world's most iconic stars of the stage and screen, Simply Barbra will be staged from Nov 15 to 18 and again from Nov 22 to 25, followed by Simply Barbra & Frank Together from Nov 29 to Dec2.
Created and performed by acclaimed New York cabaret artist Steven Brinberg, Simply Barbra is a hilarious and affectionate pastiche of a living legend, which even received praise from Streisand herself.
Described by the Sydney Morning Herald as "almost as luminous as Streisand", Simply Barbra has been credited with several awards and has sold out tours all over the world.
Brinberg has been performing as Streisand for more than a decade and appeared across America in symphony concerts.
He appeared on Broadway in a production of Funny Girl with Whoopi Goldberg, and was hired by Streisand's management to perform at fashion designer Donna Karan's birthday party. The many highlights of Simply Barbra will include renowned hits such as Don't Rain On My Parade, Evergreen from the movie A Star Is Born, The Way He Makes Me Feel from Yentl, and Memories from The Way We Were.
A week later the audience can relive the magic of Sinatra, regarded as one of the world's greatest performers and among the most popular entertainers of the 20th century, in Simply Frank.
The enchanting musical stars Richard Shelton as Ol' Blue Eyes himself.
Acknowledged as one of the best and most accurate tributes to Sinatra today, Shelton has been highly praised for his performance. He, as Sinatra, will perform together with Brinberg as Barbra Streisand. Shelton will sing all-time favourites such as Fly Me To The Moon, New York New York, and My Way, and will welcome requests from the audience. The repertoire will also include duets and many of Streisand's greatest hits.
Simply Barbra will run at the Living Room of the Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit from Nov 15 to 18 and Nov 22 to 25 at 8.30pm while Simply Barbra & Frank Together runs from Nov 29 to Dec 2 at 8.30pm. Tickets for the first musical cost 1,700 baht (3,300 and 3,500 baht including dinner) and 1,900 baht (3,500 and 3,700 baht including dinner) for the latter.
