Presented by Sukosol Hotels in collaboration with Pattaya City, Pattaya People Media Group and the Thailand Guitar Society, the annual festival "The 4th Pattaya Classical Guitar Festival & Competition" is the only event of its kind in Thailand that showcases many of the world's top guitar makers and musicians. The event will kick off with the adult and junior guitar competitions at 9am, followed by a guitar exhibition at 1pm and the Thailand Guitar Society student concert at 2pm. First prize in the adult competition is a concert guitar valued at US$4,500 (138,000 baht) made by the world-renowned Indonesian luthier Hanief Palopo. Proceeds from the festival will go to the Father Ray Foundation, a non-profit organisation that takes care of 850 orphaned, abused and disadvantaged children and students with disabilities. Tickets cost 500 baht (400 baht for students), including coffee, from Siam Bayshore, Pattaya (tel 038-428-678).
