Holistic health consultant and traditional Chinese medicine specialist Ken Rosen.

Ken Rosen, the holistic health consultant and specialist, will be in residence at the Oriental Spa, Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok to share his extensive knowledge and understanding of the ancient teachings and philosophies of traditional Chinese medicine.

During his stay from Friday until Dec 15, Rosen will hold two free lectures at the hotel. The lectures are "The seven emotions: Psychology and traditional Chinese medicine" on Friday, and "Rest for healing" on Nov 21. Both will take place at the hotel's Baan Noi, next to Sala Rim Naam Thai restaurant from 1pm to 2pm.

Rosen has been studying medicine since he was diagnosed with cancer more than 20 years ago. After receiving a film degree from New York University, he attended Pacific College of Oriental Medicine and graduated with a master's in the Science of Traditional Oriental Medicine.

Outside his private practice as a licensed acupuncturist and board-certified herbologist, Rosen also taught classes in nutrition, diagnosis and Thai medical massage in New York. He moved to Thailand in 2006 to join Chiva-Som as a resident therapist. Rosen has been published internationally, with numerous articles on Chinese medicine, cancer treatment and nutrition, and has given presentations at prominent conferences in the US and Asia.

In 2010, Rosen joined the Mandarin Oriental hotel group at the Dheva Spa and Wellness Centre at Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi in Chiang Mai as a holistic health consultant and traditional Chinese medicine specialist. During his stay at the Oriental Spa, Rosen will offer consultation before treatment sessions on stress therapy, sleep therapy, back therapy, and facial acupressure.

All sessions begin with 30-minute diagnostic consultation followed by 60-minute traditional Chinese medicine treatment. Personalised treatment plans and advice will be provided at the end session.
