Organised by the park management in tandem with the provincial authorities, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and several private-sector firms, "Unique Running: Ayutthaya Half Marathon", a trio of athletic events for people of all ages and fitness levels will be held in Ayutthaya Historical Park on Nov 25.
The event is intended to boost public awareness of the need to preserve our cultural heritage.
Three separate races will traverse this beautiful, wooded park which contains the ruins of the old capital of Ayutthaya: a 21km half-marathon (the registration fee is 350 baht); a 10km mini-marathon (250 baht); and a 3.5km fun run (200 baht).
Students aged between 11 and 15 years can enjoy a discounted entry fee of 100 baht, while there is no charge for competitors aged 10 and younger.
Trophies will be awarded to the top five male and the top five female runners in each age category in each race.
All registered runners will get a special T-shirt and a medal once they cross the finishing line.
