Chulalongkorn University's Art Centre presents "Thai Na Town - Little Oz", an international art project by Vipoo Srivilasa, an Australia-based Thai artist.
The project aims to address Thai and Australian expats' experiences of migration and cultural shifts, whilst promoting the importance of culture and the places we call home.
Besides a display of Vipoo's ceramic and mixed-media work, which reflects what he misses about Thailand while in Australia, the exhibition will also showcase small clay objects made by Australian expats and alumni, and local audiences who have been to Australia. The pieces have been created during a series of workshops led by Vipoo himself.
Thai Na Town—Little Oz will be on show at the Art Centre, 7th floor of Chulalongkorn University’s Centre of Academic Resources from Saturday until Jan 16.
The opening reception is on Friday at 6.30pm.
There will be an artist talk on Monday from 1 pm to 3 pm.
The art centre is open weekdays from 9 am to 7 pm and 9 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. Call 02-218-2965 or visit www.car.chula.ac.th/art.
