Siam Sinfonietta will be performing ‘The First Annual New Year Concert’ at Thailand Cultural Centre on Dec 27 starting at 8pm.
The strains of Strauss and excerpts from Reya The Musical will come together as the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and Opera Siam put a Siamese twist on a Viennese idea.
Forging what they hope will be the start of a new tradition, "The First Annual New Year Concert" will be held in the Thailand Cultural Centre's main hall on Dec 27 at 8pm to mark the 100th anniversary of Austrian-Thai relations.
Classics will be interspersed with the work of Thai composers and the Siam Sinfonietta, which took out the world championship in the symphony orchestra category at the prestigious Summa Cum Laude music festival in the Golden Hall of the Musikverein in Vienna.
The Siam Sinfonietta youth orchestra and its maestro Somtow Sucharitkul will be joined by some of Thailand's brightest music stars _ Pod-Moderndog, Trisdee na Patalung, who is considered one of the world's most important young conductors to watch, Thailand's Got Thailand winner Myra Molloy; celebrity Andrew Biggs and others. The music will include classical family favourites like The Nutcracker Suite, The Blue Danube and The Radetzky March plus excerpts from Reya The Musical.
This concert is being presented as a gift from the BMA to the people of Bangkok . Tickets are free but advance reservations are strongly recommended. Simply send an email with your name, email address, phone number and the number of tickets you would like to email@example.com.
