100 Tonson Gallery presents "Time Remapping" which comprises collaborative works of two outstanding young artists _ Thailand's Wit Pimkanchanapong and Japan's Ryusuke Kido.
The two became interested in each others' work upon meeting in 2010 at Tokyo Wonder Site, Japan. Ryusuke is now occupying the gallery's three-month Artist in Residence programme.
The mixed-media exhibition is inspired by a rubber plantation the two artists visited on a 300km bicycle trip down the east coast of Thailand. They shared an interest in the transformation of rubber from liquid to solid, a process capturing the tensions between nature and human development.
The concept of time is critical to their pieces, with the artists stopping, hiding, speeding, or slowing it. Their sculptures freeze time while playing with its concept.
Time Remapping will be on show at 100 Tonson Gallery from April 25-June 16. The opening reception is on April 25 at 7pm. The gallery is on Soi Tonson, Phloenchit Road and is open Thursday to Sunday from 11am-7pm. Call 02-684-1527.
