Manga lovers in Thailand better get drawing. The executive committee of the seventh International Manga Award is accepting entries for manga works produced in countries outside Japan.
Both published and unpublished works are eligible as long as they have never received an award before.
However, they must have been produced within the past three years and comprise 24 pages or more.
There will be one gold award and three silver awards and all four winners will be invited to the award ceremony, which will take place in Japan next year. During the stay, they will also have a chance to exchange their opinions with Japanese manga artists and visit numerous printing houses.
The International Manga Award was established in May 2007 to honour manga artists who have contributed to the promotion of Japanese manga overseas. Last year's competition drew up to 245 entries from 38 countries and Thai candidates won the gold and one of the silver awards. The other two silver awards went to candidates from China and Indonesia.
For this year's competition, each applicant is allowed to submit only one entry directly at the Embassy of Japan in Thailand or to PO Box MBE715.
Entries close on May 31.
