New masterpieces by three of the most renowned Thai artists are being showcased for the first time in an exhibition which marks the opening of the new headquarters of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC).
The "BAAC Artistic Creation by Three Artists: For the Life of Thai Farmers" exhibition features more than 50 art pieces created by two national artists _ Prof Preecha Thaothong and Ajarn Chalermchai Kositpipat _ and Ajarn Panya Vijinthanasarn, former dean of Silpakorn University's Faculty of Painting, Sculpture and Graphic Arts.
The highlight is the "Khao Thip (Holy Rice)" collection to which each of the artists contributed two new paintings of gods and goddesses such as Phra Mae Thoranee (the Goddess of Land), Phra Mae Phosop (the Goddess of Rice), Ganesha and Phra Dhammigaraja.
The images have been printed on Khao Thip Taweesin savings bonds, which are available at any branch of the BAAC.
The exhibition also debuts "The Lights of Suvarnabhumi" collection by Prof Preecha reflecting his memory of experiences in Thailand and neighbouring countries. Among the new pieces by Ajarn Chalermchai to be shown for the first time here are 12 woodcut pieces that took him more than three years to finish, two prototype sculptures, and two acrylic paintings created in a new style that vividly distinguishes them from the artist's previous works.
Viewers will also have the chance to see Ajarn Panya's latest acrylic and oil painting on a 2.5m by 3.4m canvas, a sculpture created with a new glass-metal mixture, and never-seen-before lithographs and etchings.
The BAAC Artistic Creation by Three Artists: For the Life of Thai Farmers exhibition is running at the Exhibition Hall, 2nd floor of BAAC’s Bang Khen headquarters on Phahon Yothin Road daily from 10 am to 8 pm until May 5. There is no admission charge. Call 081-848-1484 or Samma Sati by Panya Vijinthanasarn. 089-484-9894.
