Award-winning photographer Cherdwood Sakolaya will bring the classic ambience surrounding Sanam Luang back to the National Gallery Bangkok during the "Spirit of Sanam Luang" exhibition which opens tomorrow.
There will be 29 black and white photographs on show which Cherdwood took around Sanam Luang, one of Bangkok's most famous public parks, during the 20 years before it was officially enclosed three years ago.
The exhibition is an opportunity to see the old lifestyle and activities around the park, and also explore the feelings the place evoked that the photographer found fascinating.
"The old lifestyle I had captured might be valuable as an expression of the age and the soul of Sanam Luang but, on the other hand, it might be just a past of dust that the wind of globalisation is blowing away from our memories," said Cherdwood.
