Any local and foreign couples who are seeking unique ways to tie the knot are invited to wed in the traditional, sophisticated Peranakan style in Phuket next month.
Organised by the Thai Peranakan Association in cooperation with the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Phuket City and the Blue Elephant Cooking School & Restaurant Phuket, the Phuket Baba Wedding 2013 event will take place in Phuket's old town, renowned for its historical and magnificent architecture and atmosphere, from June 22 to 24.
The wedding procession will take place on June 23 along Thalang Road, which will be decorated with Chinese lanterns and floral displays, showcasing the beauty of a Peranakan traditional wedding.
A lavish reception will be held on the same day at the Blue Elephant Cooking School & Restaurant Phuket, where the newlyweds and their families will enjoy the surroundings of the historical former Phuket governor's Phra Pitak Chinpracha Mansion, which is one of the best examples of Sino-Portuguese architecture in Thailand. The mansion has been designated as the "House of the groom" for this year's event.
For lovebirds who would like to take part in this unique wedding ceremony, the registration fee is 39,900 baht per couple, inclusive of three nights' accommodation and a full three-day programme in Phuket.
