Neilson Hays Library presents "Chahn's Impressions 2013", a collection of more than 30 landscapes, nudes and portraits by Chahn Sutarapong who had his first exhibition at the library back in 1986.
Chahn graduated from Chung Ling high school in Penang while studying art under two artists there, one of whom was Chua Thien Teng, the well-known batik painter and one of Malaysia's foremost contemporary art gurus.
He began his career as an artist by working with various advertising agencies as a visualiser-illustrator before going on to join the Bangkok Post in 1974. After more than 20 years of service, he left the Post in 1995 to pursue painting full-time.
The exhibition is scheduled to open in the library's Rotunda Gallery on Tuesday and will run until Aug 4. The library is located on Surawong Road and opens daily, except Mondays, from 9.30am to 5pm.
