Young piano star Mitra Alice Tham from Malaysia will give a recital at Goethe Institute on July 12 at 8pm.
Presented by D&M Music Studio, the concert will see the multiple award-winning musician performing Bach's Italian Concert BWV 971, Schumann's Faschingsschwank aus Wien, and Kapustin's Sonatina Opus 100, Prelude Opus 40, No.1 and Bagatelle Opus 59, No.9.
The second half of the programme will feature Mozart's Variations on 'Ah, Vous dirai-je, maman' K265, Mendelssohn's Variations Serieuses Opus 54, Prokofiev's Toccata Opus 11 and Gershwin's I Got Rhythm.
Tham gave her first public performance when she was only three and made her international debut in Japan at the age of eight.
She has won many awards at international competitions and has been granted numerous scholarships.
She studied at the Purcell School and the Royal Academy of Music in the UK. She graduated with a Master's degree from the Mannes School of Music, New York, where she studied with distinguished pianist Jacob Lateiner.
Her performances in Asia, Europe, the US and the UK include solo and chamber music concerts. Her performances exhibit her special talent of composing live on stage, and she has been featured extensively on television throughout Asia.
