D&M Music Studio presents a piano recital by Yeung-Shao Piano Duo from Taiwan, at Goethe-Institute on Aug 27 at 8pm.
The evening programme will feature Brahms' Variations On A Theme By Haydn - Two Pianos, Opus 56b, G Yann-Jong Hwang's A Harvest Festival Of The Taiwanese Indigene - Piano Four Hands, Bach's Concerto For Two Pianos In C-Minor, Lutoslawski's Variations On A Theme By Paganini - Two Pianos and Gershwin's Rhapsody In Blue.
Founded in 1988, the duo comprises Dr Nam Yeung and Dr Tina Shao who met while they were studying for their master's at the Peabody Conservatory in Maryland. Later they received their doctorates at Louisiana State University.
Both pianists won numerous competitions during the course of pursuing their solo careers including the Monroe Young Artist Contest, Jackson Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition, Arkansas State International Piano Competition and Louisiana State University Concerto Competition in the US.
A Harvest Festival Of Taiwanese Indigene was selected by the Taiwanese Arts Council to be presented at the World Compact Disc Exhibition in Cannes, France. The other disc, From Mozart From Gershwin, was used in an American movie, Waterwheel - The Story of Randy Chang, released by the Mimosa Ministry. Dr Yeung and Dr Shao are currently faculty members of the Tainan University of Technology, Taiwan.
