The ‘Ploy Saeng 11 Festival: Nod to the North’ takes place at the Thailand Creative & Design Centre (TCDC), Chiang Mai, until Nov 3.

Chiang Mai's hidden jewels have been exposed to the public _ now they can be further developed to help grow new business and improve quality of life in the northern city.

From a rich variety of well thought-out enterprises and products to interesting places and people waiting to be discovered, the best of Chiang Mai can be seen during the "Ploy Saeng 11 Festival: Nod to the North", at the Thailand Creative & Design Centre (TCDC), Chiang Mai, until Nov 3.

The exhibition offers a space for creative Chiang Mai locals to present their ideas and works.

On show are 30 influential works as selected by 30 leading entrepreneurs and designers based on the theme "Create/Make/Earn".

The selection process is part of a survey of creative industries, which aims to ignite a new way of thinking in society and enhance Chiang Mai's hidden potential to become a creative city. Among the 30 products/places/people are:

Urban Farm innovative seasoning sauce for steamed rice _ chosen by Paritra Wanichbuncha from Fai Bakery, which has served baked goodies for locals since 1979.

Tungfabod kettle market in San Pa Tong district _ chosen by Julaporn Nantapanich, architect and owner of Northforest Studio, who is keen on green and cultural architecture.

Sonnet & Alcohol, a song-for-life band from the Fuzzyfuzz Record label _ chosen by indie film director and video artist Santipap Inkong-ngam.

Siripong Ruengsiri, the artist behind SR Studio, a treasure trove of hand-made artisan home decor objects made from terra cotta and leftover materials, and wickerwork on Hang Dong Road _ chosen by Compass editor Saenmuang who sparked the free magazine trend in Chiang Mai.

LunarCraft Games, a game and software development studio _ chosen by Dr Panutat Techasen, a leading software developer and owner of mobile application and marketing company Click Connect.

The TCDC Chiang Mai is behind Kad Muang Mai, Muang Samut Road. Call 052-080-500 ext 336 or 02-664-7667 ext 119 (daily except Mondays) or visit www.facebook.com/ploysaeng.tcdc
