Fusing reality with imagination

Not A Happy Bunny by Be Takerng Pattanopas.

H Gallery presents "What I Don't Know That I Know", a solo exhibition by Thai artist Be Takerng Pattanopas who introduces his new departure in dialogue with his long-standing concern with fantastical sculptural metaphors for the interior of the human body.

This departure is a series of dense paintings where figurative motifs hover amidst textured and translucent surfaces. Here a dynamic play between physicality and the qualities of mirage corresponds with his sculptures while the motifs highlight an evolving interest in found images.

The title of this exhibition claims uncertainty. "What I Don't Know That I Know" continues his aim to unsettle our relationship to the human body in terms of perception, intangibility and space and scale.

Moving outwards from these explorations, the artist now approaches the world of signs and symbols and the representations that provide order to such understandings, allowing for an expansive acknowledgement of imagination, myth, fantasy and cultural beliefs.

The Bangkok-based artist has a number of international exhibitions and commissions in New York and Singapore.

What I Don’t Know That I Know will be on display at H Gallery from Oct 31-Dec 29. The gallery is on Sathon Soi 12 and open Wednesday to Monday from 10 am to 6 pm. Call 085-021-5508.
