Reflective glass, cubism and the colour blue bring about spectacular effects in Sermkhun Kunawong's latest collection, on display at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre from tomorrow. "The Blue Man", his fourth solo exhibition, features more than 50 still photographs _ mostly in blue, his favourite colour. Sermkhun uses reflective glass to create multi-layered, three-dimensional composite images. The human body, traditional Thai-style fabric amulets and tattoos are highlighted in the collection. The tattoo patterns were created by renowned spiritual tattooist Acharn Noo Kanpai and other well-known artists. "My inspiration comes from the sculptures of French artist Yves Klein and my fondness for cubism. The exhibition took me more than a year to prepare," Sermkhun said. He said that he was fully aware of the complications of using the reflective technique. "I saw it as a challenge, and I consider myself successful in portraying my concept of fusion using composite images," he said. The Blue Man will be on show at the Studio Room, 4th floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre from tomorrow until Feb 9. BACC is located at Pathumwan intersection and is open Tues-Sun from 10am-9pm. Call 081-848-1484.
