A wide range of Asian masterpieces created by the creme de la creme of artists and young designers will be on show during the “Siam Centre Presents Bangkok Design Festival 2014”, running until May 14. The festival is held under the concept of “Tomorrow is...” to present ideas to improve the quality of life for the coming years. On show at Idea Avenue, first floor of Siam Centre, are 11 masterpieces created under the concept of “Cultural and Sustainability” by 11 Indonesian designers. They were inspired by the combination of local culture and contemporary art. Each piece was made of natural materials applied using several techniques to reflect the traditional Indonesian way of life. Another highlight is the “Degree Shows 2014” which features a selection of 35 top-class theses by Thai design students at the Grand Hall, first floor of Siam Discovery. The outstanding pieces reflect great potential of these young designers from the fields of architecture, interior design, product design, graphic design, animation/motion graphics, fashion design and jewellery-accessory design. One of the works will be awarded “The Best of The Show”, and will be announced on May 11 at 2pm. There is no admission fee. Call 02-658-1000 ext 2265.
